Lynchburg Series: Dinosaur Kingdom II

Dinosaur Kingdom II is a tourist attraction located just over a mile down the road from Natural Bridge State Park. Listed as another stop in my PhotoSecrets Blue Ridge Parkway Virginia book, we had to make that our next stop after wrapping up lunch.

I didn’t know what to expect, but this place took us on a wild ride through fictional history. When you first enter, there’s a small ghost-like town. We were told to go into all the rooms, look around, and press all the buttons we see along the way…

At the end of the town, you’re guided into a wooded area to continue the tour. There were many scenes set up with dinosaurs and people from the civil war era. There are sound clips and labels around the tour to tell a little more about the scene at hand. Watch out for the pterodactyl!

Towards the end of the path, there’s a short detour to check out a maze and some other fun creatures. We conquered the maze, and then on our way out were shocked by the ending… I won’t give that away though, you’ll have to visit yourself to find out what it is!

The Dinosaur Kingdom II is certainly a bizarre and unique attraction, but it was lots of fun and something different to visit! I recommend checking it out, and buying their multi-pass in order to gain access to the Natural Bridge Zoo and Caverns, both nearby. More to come on our experiences at the Zoo and Caverns in a future post, so be sure to keep reading!
