Made for Mothers Fall Social Series

April 18, 2024, was a life-changing day. Not only was it my 4th wedding anniversary with my husband, but it was the day that I became a mom. I became a mom to the most beautiful baby I could ever imagine, and to this day am still in shock that I was able to grow and birth an entire tiny little human. He is my absolute pride and joy, and I am so thankful to spend any time I can get with him every day.

I’ve dreamed of starting my own photography business as a side hustle for many years now, and after the birth of my son, I felt that itch to find a way to make that dream a reality. I was at a postpartum physical therapy appointment with my pelvic PT who is a mom running her own business and before leaving decided to ask “Do you have any advice on starting your own business?” And that’s how I discovered Mariah Stockman and Made for Mothers.

I was instantly inspired and immediately signed up for my first Made for Mothers event. I found myself thinking “I don’t actually have a business yet - I don’t have clients, I don’t have money coming in yet, but I have an idea, and just have no idea where to get started.” The imposter syndrome was real (and maybe still is…), but the moment I walked into my first event, I felt like I somehow belonged. I met fellow mom entrepreneurs who were in all stages of business - some who were like me and just looking to get started, all the way to those making six to seven figures a year.

People were shocked that I was at my first event at only 2 months postpartum, but that’s where my determination sets in. I was physically ROUGH, but I felt called to this community and like this was something I needed to follow and pursue for my family. So I got myself as presentable as I could, kissed and snuggled my baby goodbye to leave him alone with dad for the first time, mom guilt sinking in hard, and headed off to my first event.

I didn’t go to school for business, nor do I have any idea what I’m doing with starting and running a business. And each time I show up to this group of badass moms running their own businesses, I learn something new, and I feel a little bit more clear on “what I’m doing” and the next steps to take. I also just love the fact that if I need any kind of service, my first thought is - “let me see if any Made for Mothers mamas can do this for me.” Talk about a village. This is exactly the kind of village I want to be in, and the introvert in me just loves how welcoming and inclusive this village is.

Not only is Made for Mothers inclusive, but it is beyond supportive. Mariah Stockman, founder of Made for Mothers, is an amazing leader of this community, and she knows how to push you, encourage you, promote you, and all the things, in the best ways. After joining her new virtual village, she encouraged me to come out to the Fall Made for Mothers Social Series event as an additional shooter, just for fun. After not being behind my camera for 10 months, and not having any true plans or motivations to do so, I took this opportunity to get myself back out there! You can check out some of my favorites below:

The Made for Mothers virtual village is the perfect space for me to continue learning and growing in this pursuit to be my own mom business owner, while still working my full-time job. I highly recommend you check out Made for Mothers - consider attending in-person events, or joining the virtual village with me! A real community for CEO moms to grow their businesses and honor their motherhood. Join me in the virtual village! Questions? Don’t hesitate to reach out and ask, or drop them below!
